What is a Photofacial?
A photofacial is a laser treatment that uses intense-pulsed light, or IPL, to target blemishes in the skin. IPL treatments are designed to remove pigmented cells that are caused by sun damage or other issues like hormonal changes. This is a non-ablative skin treatment – it does not remove the surface skin cells like laser skin resurfacing. It instead only removes the specific dark-pigmented cells, not affecting the surrounding skin. Issues that can be reduced with laser photofacial treatments include:
